'Before It All Implodes'
Technical Details
Nearly the entire album was recorded through a ZOOM R16 Recorder/Interface/Controller & produced and mixed in-the-box in Ableton Live 10 Standard. Besides the drums, the entire album was recorded in a home-setting.
Most vocals were recorded through a Rode NT1-A, though some backing vocals were tracked with an Aston Stealth through
an M-Audio Air 192|4 interface.
Electric guitars were played through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe II, recorded with a Red5 Audio RVD9 dynamic microphone in front of the speaker.
For most distortion-tones a Madbean 8Ball (Marshall Bluesbreaker clone) was used, for most fuzz-tones either a Madbean Tonebender or Madbean Rabbit Hole (Ram's Head Big Muff clone). The Madbean Kingslayer (Klon Centaur clone) was also engaged for most distorted/overdriven tracks.
In addition a whole lot of other DIY-pedals were used throughout the record. Other prominent features include the Madbean Green Bean (lead 'lick' guitar track 03), Madbean NomNom (phaser guitar track 07), Madbean Porkbarrel (chorus guitar track 09) & Parasit Studio Into The Unknown (solos track 09).
The bass was tracked direct-in through the Zoom R16, and (depending on the track) processed 'dry' or used
with amp/cab-sim VSTs like Amplitube 4 or Lancaster Pulse.
The drums were recorded using a Red5 Audio RVK7-micset, some Shure SM58s, as well as a Rode NT1-A + Devine BM500 used in a Recorderman-setup. Blending of these tracks depends on the context and tune.
All percussion was tracked with an Aston Stealth through an
M-Audio Air 192|4 interface.
Additional acoustic instruments were recorded either with the Rode NT1A or a stereo-matched pair of Red5 Audio RV4s, depending on the track and context.
All Virtual Instruments were performed with an AKAI MPK 25 and edited afterwards.
